Non-Reg 1803 Flank Officers Sword £1150

An interesting piece for a number of reasons and even more interestingly some of those interesting elements suggest it may have been carried by an officer of the Royal Navy or Marines, sadly nothing definitive but that does not detract from it being a stunning example of an 1803.

This flank officers sabre differs from the usual in a few ways, it has a white nautical ivory grip, it was made by Hawkins of Portsmouth and it is has a plain backstrap. These elements could point to a nautical origin or it could just be an interesting non-standard sword. The blade is blue and gilt with less than 50% of the blue and gilt remaining. the blade is in generally good condition with some sections of pitting towards the tip and edge. This sword can be yours for £1150 or best offer.
