This is the iconic officers weapon used by the British at Trafalgar, these were used alongside the less common stirrup hilted hangers, dirks and sea service pistols. The 1805 is the spadroon of the sea, these gilt on brass knucklebows offer mobility and some protection to a fencer without the risk of catching in the close confines of the ship. This particular 1805 is beefier than many examples being closer to a 1780's cavalry blade in dimensions than the average naval spadroon.
