A very basic smallsword with a hilt tending towards the spadroon in a form I would usually describe as a militarised smallsword with only vestigial finger rings. However the blade is a sturdy triform blade as found on German and French swords at the time, all engravings have worn off.
This is potentially a North European smallsword for marine use much like the shortened officers swords from Sweden or the shorter French naval smallswords sometimes seen. Condition wise this is sword could use a bit of tlc, a leather washer would stop a little wiggle in the guard and the original leather twist grip has seen better days.
