This gorgeous piece is ready to leave my collection of smallswords, it is my finest military styled smallsword.
The blade is blue and gilt, likely of German origin, the slot hilt guard is ambiguous but is very similar to some silver hallmarked guards I have seen coming out of London c1760 and it has the overall "feel" of an English piece.
The hilt is finely carved and the gilt is very nearly 100%, the grip is gold sheet and silver twisted wire.
There is one small dent to the rear of the blade.
