This impressive piece by Goze of Metz is one of the rare examples of the ingenuity that is the French attack hilt. These folding hilt swords contain a folding guard which when released creates extra hand protection over the knuckles. This guard has been nicely scalloped and is still in functional shape with its original spring. The blade, aside from the makers mark and inscription on the back is plain and is still sharp from its service sharpening. Condition wise there is some minor pitting and minimal wear to the grip leather.
