An excellent piece leaving my own collection, this musket is an officers fusil dating to the latter half of the 18th century. These pieces were carried by officers in addition to a pistol and sword instead of the traditional halberd or spontoon. The musket was made by Jover of London with London Proof marks. Marked Jover to the lock plate, proofed on the barrel with London on the spine of the barrel.
Built very similarly to a Brown Bess but made for private purchase rather than an issued piece. It balances well, is more delicate and is .65 rather than the more standard .75.
This piece can be yours for £2450 or best offer.
