A wonderful example of a tradesman's or salesman sword. This is an interesting tradition that continued in earnest well into the 20th Century amongst salesmen of edged weapons, they would carry swords made in miniature with the details of the full size item to show to outfitters and retailers as an example of what their business could produce. This however is the oldest piece I have ever seen built for this purpose. The sword is of rather good quality with the casting, engravings and details exactly as one would expect on an 18th-century smallsword but scaled down.
