This fascinating piece defies explanation as I've not seen anything like it before. The sword comprises of a pre regulation basket hilt, similar to that seen on heavy cavalry swords of the mid 18th century and a stunning flattened diamond blade engraved and gilt from ricasso to the tip.
The engravings near the ricasso are stylised "pineapples" and the whole piece is engraved with a flowing vine.
The sword is solid and has its shagreen and wire grip intact. Some small snicks to the blade.
