A circa 1720's continental flintlock pistol potentially Dutch with some similar examples on display in room 0.12 of the Rijksmuseum or perhaps further east as the barrel has some similarities with Russian pistols of the era. There is an intruiging makers mark on the barrel appearing to be two waves. This is a large pistol from the tail end of the Golden age of piracy and the start of the modern navy as we know it. The barrel has a beautiful patina with a chisseled step approximately half way down. The pistol still goes to half and full cock as well as firing with a strong spring.
