A wonderful example of the rare hanger carried by officers of the Hungarian Pandour units of light infantry raised from the Croatian peasantry, the Pandours were famous for their ruthless tactics and their early forms of guerilla warfare.
These hangers were carried by the noble Hungarian officers in command of these units, the blades bearing the legend VIVAT PANDUR and various engravings.
This piece has ivory and will be for sale until the end of June 2022 when the law changes and it will revert to being in my permanent collection.
