A good quality English hanger or sidearm dating to around the year 1700, the brass hilt is a very fine casting showing the usual foliate designs but most interestingly on the clamshell there is the face of a winged cherub or putto. The blade bears the mark of either the Passau Wolf or Running Fox of Samuel Harvey the Elder (1698-1778).
The sword is in good condition with some wear to the marks.
