A rather attractive Walloon hilted rapier dating to the early 17th centory, whilst this blade is likely a military officers piece I have named it a rapier based off the blade profile.
The hilt is in near mint condition with smooth steel and nearly no pitting. The grip retains its original grip wire but the organic glue holding it to the handle and the grease from its storage has caked into the wire somewhat.
The blade is an oval cross section with an even distal taper taking it from a flattened bar down to a near double edged blade with fine edges.
The piece is engraved with floral designs.
This piece is in exceptional condition for its age.
