Here we have a stunning piece, a North European rapier c1620.
This is a transitional minimal guard rapier with just spectacular details, the blade is spectacular with a fullered diamond section blade with various markings in it and the letters "TOL" a Toledo marking from the 16th-17th centuries.
The hilt and grip are just beautiful with a minimal knucklebow and spidering guard of gilt over iron and a gold wire and chain grip which just bites into the palm. A grip that lends itself to a tight hold and indexing.
This sword is in near perfect condition with a few patches of discolouration on the blade and near all of its gold remaining on the hilt.
