This is an uncommon sword with a number of interesting features that originally brought it into my collection, the sword is a Maratha style of tulwar with a Lucknow hilt rather similar to an example in the V&A referenced in plate 20 of Rawson's "The Indian Sword".
The blade on this sword is well balanced and feels good in the hand, the hilt is larger than common with nicely chiseled lines.
An interesting find was the pattern welded blade that appeared after a light cleaning on what i originally thought was a European blade. The pattern welding fades and is only really visible on the edge and tip where the blade is in better polish
