What we have here is an interesting piece, a hanger with a heraldic wolf image on the crossguard and a large lion head pommel.
I have called this a grenadiers hanger due to its resemblance to a few hanger like swords in various British collections that appear to have connections to Grenadier Regiments, what we can say for sure on this is that it appears to be a heraldically marked military or retinue piece likely from central Europe from the style of manufacture and a very German looking pommel cap.
The sword is large for a hanger with a straight backsword style blade. The grip is of substantial proportions made of two slabs of staghorn. There is a chain guard attached at the lions mouth and the terminal of the quillon. This sword can be yours for £500 or best offer.
