An interesting piece, a shortened and modified 18th-century French cavalry sabre. This sword still retains its original blade which has been significantly shortened creating a sword that feels similar to a cutlass in the hand. There are two likely possible reasons for this piece being modified. The first is that it was a repurposing of an expensive sword into a naval sidearm, something that is seen in many seafaring nations merchant navies. The other possibility is that this sword was broken in service and repurposed or sold out of service. Regardless that makes this a delightfully unique short sabre or hanger. This sword can be yours for £295 or best offer. Reduced to £245.
