1821 Pattern Of Major John Wright £425

A rare Honourable Artillery Company named sword to Major John Major Wright. Commissioning in the late 19th century as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Honourable Artillery Company he later went on to serve in the reserves throughout the First World War and into the Inter-War period earning the Territorial Distinction Medal. Research is sparse on this officer but I have written an article on his father who also served in the HAC and purchased this sword as a gift for his son.

The sword is an 1821/45 made by Wilkinson, marked with both the owner's initials and the regimental initials. The sword itself is in a slightly worn condition but it is largely cosmetic, there is a section of pitting one quarter down the blade. The scabbard is in rough shape and could do with restoration. This is a rare sword and the condition has been taken into account in the price. This sword an be yours for £425 or best offer.
