This is a wonderful oil on board from the tail end or just after the end of the Golden Age of Dutch painting. The subject is a gentleman in period clothing with a hand resting calmly on the frame. Sadly the original frame has been lost to time but it is in a nice respectful demure 19/20th century frame.
