A 1796 pattern infantry officers sword with its blue and gilt remaining and also an interesting mechanism for keeping the blade tight in the grip using a spring catch. There is also a nice clear repair about 2/3 down the length of the blade. These scarf welds are popping up more and more often showing how common it was to repair swords on campaign.
