This is an interesting original example of the Bauernwehr, this is a working mans knife from the Germanic speaking parts of Europe and were popular between the 14th and 16th century. This piece appears to be to the latest end of this scale being from the 16th centiry.
The knife consists of horn and wood scales pinned to the tang with a sidering over the outside over the knuckle. The blade has has been sharpened and it appears to have had a long life in use. The piece has been polished sadly removing its original patina. The Bauernwehr can be yours for £675 or best offer.
