And on the 8th day of the Swordvent Calendar we come to one of my true loves, the cut down, field modified and repaired sword. These swords have living history that you can see, there is evidence of repairs, reporfiling and fixed at times when nothing else would work and a sword was needed faster than a new one could be purchased, either kept by officers as repaired pieces of kit or sold on the European market by whomever could find a use for a short blade.

Often cut down as dirks, to make cutlass length swords, for civilian use or because an officer simply couldn't afford a new one these pieces are simply great.
