For day three of the Swordvent Calendar I will be guiding us to 19th Century Africa.

This was a tumultuous time in the continents history with expansionist Kingdoms and Colonial empires clashing to devastating effect, the colonial armies often not knowing what hit them as they were assailed with unknown weapons terrain and tactics.

What it also gave the world was battles that showed the incredible power of the nations of the time, the Sudanese being a particular favourite of mine, their devotion and ferocity defeating the famous British square twice and ironically immortalizing Gordon of Khartoum by causing his death.
